Your duvet cover says a lot about you. As the focus point of your room, it is the first thing people see. So choose one that represents you while also making you feel super comfortable because at the end of the day, that’s what is most important.
Check out these duvet covers that are sure to impress and make you feel extra cozy.
1. Marble Duvet Cover
Make your Pinterest board come to life with a white and grey marble duvet cover. Bring yourself a sense of clean and comfort. You’ll be able to spot your fellow Pinterest lovers from the moment they step into your room. “Finding bedding may seem like one of the most stressful things, especially if you’re an incoming freshman seeing all the other artsy dorm rooms on social media, but in the end you just need to find something that lets you sleep comfortably at night and even if you feel you haven’t chosen the perfect one, soon it’ll feel like home,” said Syracuse sophomore Isha Battu.
2. Succulent Duvet Cover
Have a green thumb? Worried about what you are going to do without your plants in the fall? Your dorm can’t support some of your favorite plants, but this will provide the same sense of peace. Not only that but it has also been said that being in nature helps with studying so why not bring that straight to your room?
3. Pandamonium Duvet Cover
Calling all animal lovers! What better way to show your love for animals than in the center of your room? Believe it or not, but your bed serves as the focal point in your dorm room (especially on your side of the room). You’ll want something that shows off your personality and your interests. That way, you’ll form an immediate connection with your roommate(s) or any new friend you make.
4. Sense & Sensibility Duvet Cover
Love to get lost in your favorite book? No better way than to feel the same comfort of a familiar story than to curl up with a duvet cover inspired by the classic Sense and Sensibility by Jane Austen. Any sort of literature-themed duvet will provide that feeling of home or even some much-needed inspiration for your next crucial English paper.
5. Tie Dye
Channel your inner hippie or love for summer camp with a tie dye print. If you don’t want to exactly channel your middle school camp days, try one with a more modern twist. Hey, going to college means that you’re a mature person now, right? But don’t worry. The familiar tie dye pattern will still remind you of home, especially when you don’t feel like a mature adult.
6. Preppy
Be sure to showcase your style with this preppy design. Why not bring yourself a sense of ordering cleanliness? You'll need it during that crazy first semester. Trust me, having pieces in your dorm that’ll calm the crazy will make your semester 10x more bearable. Beyond that, if you feel like mixing up your dorm's decor every once in a while, you can totally go for it. “I prefer designs and colors that are simple and versatile, so that I can change up the look of my room easily without having to worry about my bedding,” said Syracuse sophomore Kayleen O’Brien.
7. Mandala
Stay with the bohemian trend to make a statement. “I look for something unique with an interesting pattern on it because I want my bedding to look different from everyone else's and I know it also sets the theme for the rest of the room,” said Syracuse sophomore Isha Battu. “I opted for a black and white comforter because I could choose to accentuate the rest of the room with whatever color I chose and I wouldn't have to commit to a certain color for the 2-4 years I would be using the bedding.”
8. Stripes
If you don’t want to go overboard, stripes might be the way to go. Simple yet effective, they bring a simple style without overpowering the rest of your décor. “I don't like patterns that are too ‘busy’. I like simple patterns that are aesthetically pleasing,” said Syracuse sophomore Jenna Babyak. Minimalism has its perks, you know.
9. Geometric
The eye catching geometric design will become the centerpiece of your room. Match the rest of your décor to the vibrant colors on this duvet for an even more put together look. With so many color options, you have freedom to mix and match as much as you wish. You’ll have one of the most put together rooms on campus.
10. Plain
At the end of the day, simplicity is key. You don’t want to overpower your already tiny dorm room with an ugly contrast of bright colors and designs. Try choosing your favorite color or rep your school colors to show off some school pride. “I inserted a thick white comforter into this orange patterned comforter and I love it. It's super comfy and keeps me very warm. Of course, I love that it's orange because that's Syracuse's color,” said Syracuse sophomore Jenna Babyak. Syracuse sophomore Samantha Belin said, "I’m really into accent colors and therefore always look for a very plain duvet to base my main color scheme around. This way I can decorate my bed with colorful patterns without making my bed look too busy.”
